SCAMMM! They charged us a $1000 fee for cancellation? It was originally $3000 but they LOWERED it down to $1000, oh how humble. The guy was very pushy and made us sign up for personal training when we clearly kept denying it. We then saw we had the chance to cancel UP TO 10 DAYS but they didn't care. They only want your money and trick you when you first join as a member! Stay away.
Terrible customer service. Big scam... don't sign up... read EVERYTHING before you sign. Run by a bunch of high schoolers

LA fitness is a very very dirty gym the toilets are always nasty never any paper towels workout equipment stay broke for up to a 9 months I would not recommend this gym to no one
Terrible service. Incompetent staff. Dirty facilities. 0 stars.
LA Fitness is the absolute worst gym I've been to. I was scammed into signing an agreement by a newbie sales rep, who guaranteed me a 7-day money back period. I signed on to try the gym out, and I was horribly disappointed with dirty facilities after 6 days, so I decided to end my membership. It turns out that the sales rep LIED to me to make a sale -- it was actually three days. He knew I was hesitant and could've given me a trial, but instead snaked me into a membership, costing me $150.
I tried to remediate the issue with the GM Will Feeley, but he was unable to help. A simple solution would have been to acknowledge the mistake of his sales rep and refund me the money, but no, instead I'm on the hook for $150 because of the INCOMPETENCE of this place.
I escalated one more level and tried to communicate my issue with the LA Fitness corporate office, but insult to injury, they aren't even willing to help me with this. I've been waiting THREE WEEKS for a response from them, despite calling 3x a week. Incompetence and unqualified staff must be a part of all levels of this organization. Pathetic.
They say it takes 40 positive reviews to undo the damage of one negative review. I will write bad reviews and detail my horrendous experiences to anyone who listens, just so they know to steer clear of this dumpster fire of a gym.
You suck, LA Fitness. You know how to fix this issue, yet you don't even try. Do better.
I have been a member of LA FITNESS for the last five -year, first as a month-to-month customer and then as a prepaid customer for the last three years. During the COVID pandemic, our local laws prohibited residents to gather in places where people congregate such as churches, gyms, and sport events, as the result of this order, we have been staying home to avoid the virus infection -- since March 2020 to now.
Everyone in our family finally got our immunization shots and decided to go back to the gym. When I made a call to LA Fitness to check on the opening hours and the facility's availability, I was surprised to find out that my membership has expired last month even though we HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE to use the gyms since March 2020 due to the stay-at-home order.
I called and explained to LA Fitness the situation regarding the stay-at-home order that was locally in effect and have told them the reason that I was unable to go to the gym was because all the residents were ordered to stay at home. I respectfully asked if they would extend the membership due to the current situation, LA Fitness said that they would not give any credit, that extension was already given (however, the extension was given when NO ONE could go to the gym due to the restriction of local laws that were in place.)
I know the pandemic was hard on everyone, customers as well as business entities. I also understand LA Fitness has to make money to keep its business going. Every business needs to make profits to satisfy its investor's demands and to keep its stocks price high, however, businesses also need to conduct business with ethics and empathy in mind, I don't ask LA Fitness to be a socialistic business, but please have an understanding that behind all the profits, it is the customers that make possible to existence of any business. The least that LA Fitness could do is to help out its customers during the time of suffering.
Please made your decision accordingly when you are thinking of signing up.
It's a clean , respectful nice environment , and anything the staff can do to help they will , la fitness on the Southside is the best.
Once again a man is always treated more fairly than a woman. The perverts in the gym are disgusting. The gym violates ADA law daily and treats members poorly.
I just started my membership last month. I was advised and assisted properly when I started my membership. Mr. Jose Jimenez trained me and I realized that I wasn't working out properly myself. He made sure I felt comfortable with every workout and also made sure that I pushed myself to the best of my ability. Jose then counseled me on my personal goals and offered personal training as well as strengthening class so I could build my desired physic. He is the BEST! LA Fitness must be proud to have him on the team.

I returned to LA fitness after a long absence and unfortunately the instructors announced that the class duration including cooldown would only be 45 minutes. Fort me, it is not worth driving all this way for such a short class. They used to be and should be 1 hour. I received a 3 day free pass at 24 hour fitness and the classes are 1 hour as it should be. Very disapointing. Otherwise, the place looks very nice.

Many customers have been dissatisfied with the fact that LAF frequently switches trainers on clients, in general, without notice. They also complain of billing issues for training paid by the session or on monthly basis. These issues cause a lot of stress and many managers refuse to "make things right ". Also, poor billing practices during Covid. Training packages may look attractive cost-wise but can actually be the most costly! I signed up for a training package to get in shape faster but found I enjoyed their classes and didn't need them. The sales people told me not to worry because they would be available at any point until I cancel my membership (in case I changed my mind!). I made three inquiries, telling them I worried about the small print on my contract. Each time I was told the same thing. Don't worry. When I downloaded my app, I saw there were no training sessions available. Customer service by email referred me to my local gym. The local gym manager was downright rude when I pressed for an answer as to why they refused to refund my account. Apparently, my $1500 investment was only one of many complaints of the same nature. READ THE SMALL PRINT CAREFULLY AND DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE! I hope this saves at least one person from this dreadful outcome.
I joined in 2011 or 2012
In 2016 I paid 1000 per month for 3 days a week of personal training.
Trainers would change if they could not work in my schedule. Fine with that.
Today the original trainer was there and took time away from a person he was training to correct and criticize my actual technique.
I said to him that I'm about to leave as I was finishing up my routine and that he has a client and I don't need his input.
He became angry and told me he hopes he never sees me in that gym again, and don't come back.
Friggin Weird.
I couldn't believe I was hearing this bs from this so called professional trainer... was it a threat? What will happen to me if I return. I felt unsafe and threatened.
I was going to go as I was leaving anyway, I couldn't let it go after all these years this was the worst.
I went to the front desk but two of the managers were busy selling their bs training packages to people who looked older than me.
I'm not there to be a body builder, just maintain my good health into my retirement years. I'm definitely not at that gym to be verbally abused and possibly threatened by some thug.
One of the managers asked a younger guy at the desk to go see what I needed.
I told him I'd like to have that trainer repeat to management what he said to me.
The younger employee confronted the trainer and with clients all around us the trainer didn't even blink an eye and began his nasty abuse all over again and even added that I've been working out all these years and look at him, he hasn't changed a bit.
Could have been a compliment if it came from anyone else.
Needless to say this all went nowhere and when I went back to the front desk and asked to cancel my membership I was told they couldn't do that and I would have to come back next week and ask someone else.
La fitness is now called esporta and I felt that i should post this to add to what I see are loads of complaints.
I've learned a valuable lesson, if a muscle head oaf talks to me at a gym, run for the exit.
Oh, and do not look for ethical management style at La fitness or esporta or whatever they call themselves.
Thanks for reading. And Buyer Beware
It´s a NO from me. If lafitness.com would focus on great service, clean area, great machines/weights and an easy membership it would be another story.
